Women in their 20s and 30s should have a clinical breast exam  as part of a regular exam by a health expert at least every 3 years. After age 40, women should have a breast exam by a health expert every year.

Screening is looking for cancer before a person has any symptoms. This can help find cancer at an early stage. By the time symptoms appear, cancer may have begun to spread.

Ultrasound is a good test to use along with mammograms. It  helps to tell the difference between cysts and solid masses (tumors) without using a needle to draw out fluid.
